Privacy at Drama Short Play

The short version: no accounts, no personal details, no advertising trackers, and nothing copied without a press of a button.

Nothing personal is asked for

There is no sign-up, no comment box, no newsletter form and no advertising or analytics script from any outside company on these pages, and the site sets no cookies of its own. We never ask for a name, an email address or a phone number, so there is no personal file on any reader to keep, sell or hand over.

The access log

Our server writes one routine line to its access log for every request it answers. A line records the time, the network address the request came from, the country Cloudflare reports for that address, the page requested, the status code returned, which page held the link you followed, and the name your browser gives for itself (its user-agent). The log serves three purposes only: keeping the paper running, noticing abusive traffic and producing overall visit totals.

Delivery through Cloudflare

Every page travels through Cloudflare, which caches copies close to readers and screens out attack traffic. Doing so means Cloudflare processes connection data, your IP address included, according to its own published policy.

The single activity note

The first time you interact with a page (a tap, a click, a spin of the scroll wheel or a keystroke), the page posts one short note to our server and then stops listening. The note names the page it was sent from, gives the domain of the referring website (left blank when you arrived directly) and states how long, in milliseconds, you had spent on the page so far. No identifier travels with it; the note exists to separate human readers from automated traffic.

Pressing play

Video loads only after you press the play button. The episode is then requested from the distributor's own delivery network, which sees your address and browser details exactly as it would if you visited it yourself. For packed archives, a script from this site runs in your browser to read out the single episode requested.

Series codes and your clipboard

The hand-off page prints a series code in large type so that you can search for it in the app. Copying happens when you press the continue button and at no other time: opening the page copies nothing, and the site never looks at what your clipboard already contains.

Leaving the site

The continue links point to official apps and app stores, and some of them run through affiliate programmes that may pay us a commission. Once you arrive there, that service's own privacy policy applies instead of this one.
